These results show that the British people want their say on the renamed European Constitution.  The parties which went back on their promise of a referendum - Labour and the Liberal Democrats - won less than half the vote.  The Conservatives will keep up the fight for the referendum we were promised.

Conservatives and the EPP
Conservatives in the European Parliament will no longer sit with the European People's Party and, instead, will set up a new, non-federalist group that believes in a flexible, open Europe.  Sitting in the EPP didn't work, because they're constitutionally committed to a federal Europe, which we oppose, and some of their member parties are unenthusiastic about free markets.

By setting up a new, non-federalist group in the European Parliament, we'll offer a mainstream alternative to the way things have been in the EU.  Of course, we'll carry on working together on the areas where we agree, just as we've been working closely on key policy areas over the past few years with the UMP in France, the CDU in Germany and the Moderates in Sweden.
