The local election results were remarkable.  Conservatives won all over the country - from Lancashire to Devon and Somerset to Derbyshire. We won councils that we hadn't held for three decades.

Our vote share was 15 percentage points higher than Labour - a 9% swing.  Labour lost over half of the seats that they contested, while we won over 250 seats.

Labour wiped out: Conservatives gained seats from Labour in the North and the Midlands. We gained control of Staffordshire, Lancashire and Derbyshire - councils we hadn't held for three decades.  For the first time in Labour's history, it does not control a single county council in England.

Lib Dems in reverse: Conservatives are advancing strongly against the Lib Dems in the South West. We took control of Somerset and Devon, and are the largest party in Cornwall.
