Children's A & E Unit
![]() With David Cameron in Manchester Met recently with David Cameron in Salford and had the opportunity of raising hospital issues relevant to Southport. He has asked to be kept updated and is fully supportive of our aims. Since its transfer in 2003 to Ormskirk little has changed. We have a poor road system and an equally poor transport service that gives little support to parents, and causes distress to those having to use the facility. Walk-In Units are available in Ormskirk, Skelmersdale and South of the Borough. In Southport NOTHING! Two meetings 21st December 2007 and 11th February 2008 at the Ainsdale Clinic for Wellbeing have again clarified the current situation with an agreed meeting scheduled for May 2008 after issues raised at both meetings are fully explored. We now need action, enough words have been spoken. Short term we need an appropriately equipped Children's Unit with X-Ray facilities. Long term together with the current number of children living in the area, proposed new properties, and in anticipation of an increase in the number of young people combined with our holiday visitors, it has to be recognised the current situation is unacceptable and has to be addressed. |
