An enjoyable visit to Southport Fire Station to look at plans for the future. Seven new Merseyside Stations are to be included in a programme of 16 Stations, including Southport and Formby.
Temporary Station to be located opposite Sandpipers Vitalise Centre and will include the ambulance service.
The agreed plans and bidder for Southport in place by the end of the year. All 16 to be built over the next 2 ½ years and Southport's new Station in place by June 2012. The Ambulance Service is to be integrated with the Fire Service sharing facilities on site.
A thrilling rescue exercise put on for me emphasised the importance of team work. Green Watch Manager Peter Kirkham and his team undertook the exercise of rescuing a victim from a high building.
Alan Harris District Manager for Sefton explained the breathing apparatus control board on the back of vehicles which is a vital safety device supporting our brave firemen.
Good to meet the planning team Colin, Caroline and Andy what a responsible job they have with so many expectations for the new Station.
Current engines are 8 years old but new ones had to be a deferred delivery as they are too wide to get out of the current doors at the Station.
I have been promised on-going updates which I will pass on.

Lovely day at the Dialysis Luncheon with support from across Southport and Formby. The clean up afterwards was a marathon run but Jean's new kitchen came into its own. Well done Jean a great day.

I have seen some wonderful shows over the years but Alice in Wonderland performed by the children at St Johns C of E School in Ainsdale did not disappoint, it was superb.
The hall was full and Ken and I, looking forward to the performance, settled into our seats and what happened next was magical.
All those taking part were exceptionally good, the costumes were wonderful, the stage management was perfect and the children themselves performed with ease and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
Thank you Mrs Dennison for inviting us and congratulations to everyone involved you provided an evening that will not be forgotten.
