I was delighted to join Wendy Miller and some of her colleagues on her last day running her renowned sweet stall.

Wendy has been a Market Stallholder for over 19 years and had intended to retire last year but postponed it until she had done her bit to save her beloved Market. She led the campaign with her colleagues to present the positive side of having an Indoor Market and together with evidence and tremendous support from the public, and the local authority, it is to be retained and modernised to serve Southport.

Such commitment by all involved has helped them, in particular Wendy, to overcome the hard times they have endured and the political backlash that she did not deserve. A lady in every way who stood her ground, an honour to know you Wendy.
