A full and rewarding day. Although no longer Chairman of the Woodvale & Ainsdale Community Association, having done a 4 year stint, it is now in the capable hands of policeman Ted Hartill, his able management team and Community Centre manager and is going from strength to strength. I give my support when requested, and am delighted that the work being undertaken from Kings Meadow Primary School, a great school, and involving the Centre, is proving so successful. A committed team working for all age groups and delighted to have met them this morning to catch up on their programme, hugely impressive. On to meet the new Area Commander, Chief Superintendent Ian Pilling at Formby Police Station. Had the opportunity for a wide discussion on current and future projects and look forward to his involvement on the Stronger and Safer Communities Partnership on which I am Vice-Chairman, currently acting Chairman, since the departure of his predecessor Chief Superintendent Mark Matthews, I am looking forward to working with him. Many house calls throughout Ainsdale and Southport this afternoon, it is always an advantage to meet with people and listen. Ken and I attended a fundraising event at TreeTops this evening for Norwood Ward, a great success and most enjoyable, nice to see new friends and a chance to catch up with local news. On leaving we learnt our young grandson had been to hospital and had a broken collar bone. He is only 6 years old and although late we went straight to the family home to see him. Although obviously still in pain how his face brightened up when Ken rewarded him with a £5 note for "bravery". What's the saying "boys will be boys" and he was practising his football as it happened. |
